The Bissell Symphony is labeled as an all in one pet vacuum and steam mop, which is something that we do really like. First off, for the first half of the 2 in 1 aspect, this is a really good vacuum cleaner. It has the ability to vacuum all of your floors with total ease. It features some pretty good suction power, so it can pick up some fairly heavy objects without too much trouble.
It is the perfect solution for picking up light, medium, and heavy messes on all of your hard flooring. That being said, the Bissell Symphony is not intended for use with carpets as it does not have a brush roll. Sure, you can vacuum the top layer of a carpet, but it won’t get the deep down dirt. However, if you need a tool for hardwood, laminate, stone, and tile floors, the Bissell Symphony definitely does a good job.
The Bissell Symphony is specially designed so that it mops your floors at the same time as it vacuums. It does this with steam power.
This vacuum and mop combo comes with 2 different microfiber pads. It includes 1 pad for easy messes and a more heavy duty pad for those stuck on messes that need some extra scrubbing. It works really well for our home that has lots of pets and kids. It seems to do a great job at picking up pet hair. Things like dust and pet hair get stuck to the hot microfiber pad while bigger objects get sucked into the vacuum. We like how it does both at the same time.
However, if you choose, you can shut the steam off totally, so you can just vacuum without steam mopping if need be. You can also set the steam to a low level or high level depending on the mess you need to clean up. It is also pretty neat because the Bissell Symphony has a fairly large canister that is very easy to empty. Simply detach the canister and dump it out.

The Crosswave is somewhat similar to the Symphony in the sense that it has a wet feature, but there are some key differences too. First off, while the Symphony is a steam cleaner, the Crosswave is more of a wet mop and vacuum combo.
The Crosswave does not steam clean your floor, but it does have a canister where you can add water or some kind of cleaning solution. It works well to spray the solution onto hard surfaces, thus getting rid of wet messes and stuck on messes.
The Bissell Crosswave has a special brush roll specifically designed to pick up wet messes. It is made of microfiber and nylon, which works well for picking up wet messes and for sending dust and dirt into the vacuum itself.
What is really neat about this model is that unlike the Symphony, this can be used for carpets. The brush roll is specifically designed to work for carpets as well. Simply switch the setting from hard floor to carpet and you are good to go. It will still wash the carpet, but there is a moisture control feature so you don’t over-wet the carpet. This is definitely something that we find very convenient.
This model does have 2 tanks, one for the dirty water and one for clean water. Now, while the Crosswave can be used for hard flooring and carpets, which is in part thanks to the strong suction power, in terms of pure vacuuming power, it does not do quite as well as the Symphony, especially in terms of pet hair and larger messes.

Depending on what your needs are either of these 2 in 1 vacuums can serve you well. On one hand, the Symphony is awesome for cleaning hard floors, getting stuck on messes, and cleaning pet hair. On the other hand, while the Crosswave does do a decent job at vacuuming, it works well for carpets and small messes on hard floors, but it does not do so well with heavy stuck on messes or pet hair. The choice is up to you!
